Generator Scheduled Maintenance
Scope of Service Checks
Full-Service Check
- Replace engine lubricating oil and dispose of it environmentally responsibly.
- Replace oil filter(s) in natural gas engines.
- Replace oil and fuel filters in diesel engines and coolant filter if required.
- Inspect air filter(s) and crankcase breathers. Replace (additional cost) with client’s approval.
- Inspect the cooling system for leaks and conditions.
- Inspect and adjust belts as required.
- Natural gas/LPG fueled engines inspect spark plug wires and ignition system for damages and excessive wear.
- Inspect the generator fuel system for leaks or damage.
- Inspect wiring and connectors.
- Inspect battery(s) condition (load test) electrolyte levels, check for corrosion and battery charger function.
- Run the engine and check temperatures and pressures.
- Test the governor for proper operation and stability and inspect linkage.
- Test the engine safety shutdown systems.
- Test system for proper frequency/speed, voltage, and amperage.
- Inspect the transfer switch and perform the transfer with the client’s approval.
- Submit a written report to the client and advise of any further work required.
